By responding to the significant needs and ongoing needs of our clients

1 . Provide a Drop-in Center in order to meet their immediate needs

1 .1 Shelter from weather.

1 .2 Light food

1 .3 Distribution of basic items (clothes, sleeping bags, tents)

1 .4 Personal Hygiene facilities (showers, laundry, handicap accessible restrooms)

1 .5 Private space for HIV testing.

1 .6 Healthy Socialization

1 .7 Referral site to other community resources (Project Action, COI, BCHD, CCS)

2 . Provide an information and referral site (Project Action office downtown) that offers mentoring systems for individuals choosing to work on more in depth recovery goals.

2 .1 Establish mentor relationships that provide goal-setting, encouragement, referral to resources (SS benefits, healthcare, DMV and CSC services), and accountability to progress.

By increasing community awareness of the issues and challenges our clients face

1 . Encourage involvement of the wider community with CDDC clients.

1 . 1 Implement a  volunteer recruiting system coordinated by an AmeriCorps Vista (April Prichard).

1 . 2 Expand direct services by staffing Project Action with an AmeriCorps worker, program director, job coach,  mental health and a social workers.

2 . Sponsor community awareness events.

3 . Maintain regular communication methods.

3 . 1 Publish Newsletters regularly.

By collaborating with government agencies that provide services to our clients.

1 . Develop partnerships with healthcare providers,
housing resources,
job source agencies, and legal services (jail nurse, attorneys, parole and probation).

1 . 1 Appoint key people to develop these partnering relationships (Aleita, Marietta, Jim, Barbara, Emily and Scott)

1 . 2 Develop volunteer system  to include database, training, background checks, recognition programs.

To establish facilities that enables the operation of our programs.

Run all operations of CDDC under the same roof in order to engage in a more personal advocacy with our clients.

1 . Find and maintain an adequate site.

1 . 1 Relocate all CDDC projects to same building.

2 . Recruit and train volunteers to staff both Drop-in and Project Action programs.

2 . 1 Supply volunteer staff with an updated training packet.

2 . 2 Offer special hands-on training for the programs of Project Action. (Barbara Ross and Hundley)

3 . Address the mechanics of site management, like shopping and cleaning.

3 . 1 Appoint volunteer leaders to coordinate these events. (Aleita, Sue and Joan)

Obtain and maintain financial resources to stabilize all operations of CDDC.

1 . Continue to search for grants and other financial support to maintain a permanent site and expand services offered at the site.
